Wanderlust Traveller...Off to Cuba

La Gypset Diary of Cuba, The people, The culture, The music!

Cuba is an island that has been stopped in time. Everywhere you go you feel like your are in a movie set of the 1950's. The cars, the architecture, the streets, the restaurants, the markets, there is so much to do and see in Old Havana. The people are warm and welcoming and you can walk the Old Town and discover many of its hidden treasures. From "La Bodeguita del Medio" known to be a hotspot for Ernest Hemingway, "La Floridita" where the daiquiri was born and the oldest tobacco factory, Partagas. Its winding streets, which remind me of Old San Juan, are filled with people, music and dancing on the streets! It's nightlife is fun and diverse, from the "Tropicana" that has been open since the 1940's with its non-stop showgirls gone tropicana to and art and club scene at "La Fabrica del Arte" and "El Cocinero" that almost rivals the up and coming hypster spots in Williamsburg. "La Guarida" for dinner, a hotspot for Rihanna and Madonna, is an old/meets new Havana with the most beautiful view of Old Havana at its "El Mirador"rooftop bar. You can also venture out for a few hours and visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Varadero. Its crystal blue waters are breathtaking. Sun, fun, culture and one of the warmest people in the Caribbean, Cuba stole my heart <3
